Monkey Kingdom Productions is Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. Created in 2004 as part of a pact to bring life to independent filmmaking, Monkey Kingdom Productions nods its head to Songoku, the Monkey King from Eastern mythology - a wily spirit with his own unique way of getting things done.
Monkey Kingdom Productions is dedicated to creating thought-provoking and boundary-breaking, quality productions that never pander to the lowest common denominator. We will forge ahead into innovative and exciting filmmaking territory. We promise to bring you intelligent and uncompromising films. We play outside of the box. We are Monkey Kingdom Productions.
We monkeys also believe that perseverance and determination added to passion and dedication equals success. But the most important thing in achieving your goals is to never waiver from your dreams and never take yourself too seriously. C'mon monkey, let's make a movie!

Monkey Kingdom Productions also is host to Monkey Kingdom Studios, a fully working production studio located in downtown Los Angeles. We have a 1000+ sq. foot loft in a historic building, complete with high ceilings, fully equipped bathroom and kitchen as well as green screen, lighting grid, expendables, and production equipment. With a combined professional career of over 50 years in the acting world and entertainment business, we have amassed a formidable network of talented individuals from whom we feel we can draw to fulfill almost any project's casting needs.
We have always been dedicated to bringing creative and talented people together and making exciting new connections, and have recently been working to create casting opportunities specifically for projects requiring diverse voice-over talent. We have coordinated with several producing partners to bring acting talent and writing/directing and producing talent together to create positive productions in animation, film and voice-over.
Yuri Lowenthal has years of experience in the entertainment field both in front of and behind the camera. An internationally produced screenwriter and playwright, as well as an actor and voice-over talent, Lowenthal is excited about this project: a fully functioning production company.
No stranger to independent films, Lowenthal has also been seen on such shows as "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Alias."
Tara Platt has been a professional actress since her first Equity role at age 15. She has been involved in the industry for many years, producing as well as performing. Platt is excited to bring you Monkey Kingdom Productions with years of innovative films to come.
A leading lady on stages from London to New York and LA, Platt also has film and TV credits such as "The Call," "Parenthood" and "The Gilmore Girls."
